Position Title: Payroll Administrator

Reports To: Payroll Supervisor

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Payroll Administrator will support the Payroll Supervisor and construction teams by preparing and processing payroll for the US side of the project.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in preparing information for payroll processing.
  • Ensure hours in timekeeping system are accurate and approved for processing.  Send frequent reminders to team and assist as need to ensure process is complete.
  • Prepares weekly payroll for distribution, including obtaining appropriate signatures, place paychecks and direct deposit advices in envelopes, and sorting.
  • Upload certified payroll information in system, ensuring timely and accurate submission. 
  • Manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and ethical standards
  • Respond to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks
  • Sets up new users in timekeeping system and provides training to end users.  Point of contact for timekeeping related system issues.
  • Serves as a backup to payroll processing. 
  • Ensure all payroll deadlines are adhered to.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, HR or similar focus.
  • 2+ years’ experience in similar position
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Microsoft office experience – must be proficient in Excel
  • Flexibility to work a flexible schedule to ensure payrolls are completed timely
  • Strong communicator with ability to interact with all levels in an organization. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR or similar focus.
  • Previous experience processing payroll in a union construction unionized environment

 

Working Conditions:

Generally favorable indoor office workspace located in heavy civil construction site. Various levels of environmental conditions, including, but not limited to: project worksites; vendor/client facilities which may or may not have temporary office spaces; high number of heavy construction equipment; high and precarious places; excessive noise; high workforce numbers of craft, supervision, owners representatives, and management; fumes or airborne particles; and extreme temperatures.  PPE will be provided.
